Adopt a People Group
There are 7.5 billion people in the world. 42% of them have no opportunities to hear the hope of the gospel.
Read that again. It doesn't say that 42% of the people in the world are not Christians - that number is actually closer to 70%. But almost half of the people on this planet are living in places where they will most likely never even know what it means to follow Jesus.
They have no access to the Bible in their own language
They don't know any Christians, and probably will never meet any
They don't have any churches in their community
There no Christians (or not enough Christians) from their unique cultural group who are able to share the love and the message of Christ with them
The map below shows where the most unreached people groups are:
The Church exists to share the love and the message of Christ with those around us. Faith Church is passionate about doing that in our community. But what about the people in the red areas of the map - the ones who don't have a Christian presence. Who will share with them?
Jesus said, "I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen." Because we love Jesus, and Jesus loved the world, we too want to love the world. And we will show this love by adopting a people group.
We can't change the whole world, but with God's leading we want to change the course of history for one people group - from darkness to light, from orphans to sons and daughters, from hopeless to hope-filled.
What does that look like? We are still in the very early stages, but here is what will happen over the next few years.
We will ask God to show us which people group He is leading Faith Church to adopt. (Here is a great resource that you can use to help you pray.)
We will determine the best strategy to reach this people group
We will send long-term workers to live among the people group and begin sharing the love and message of Christ
We will support the long-term work by sending short-term teams, praying, and sending additional resources
We will eventually work toward planting a church in this people group, moving them from RED on the map above to GREEN to BLUE.
