Internships

The internship program at Faith Church is designed to help you develop your charactercompetency, and calling as you participate in the work and purpose of Faith Church. Over the course of your internship, you will work alongside ministry staff to:

  1. DISCOVER how you are personally wired as a leader through intentional leadership development

  2. DEVELOP your gifts and passions in ministry while working toward a strategic ministry project

  3. IMPACT lives by serving in day-to-day ministry environments

Why should you be an intern?

  • Faith Church interns will be provided with hands-on ministry experience in an area of their interest.

  • Interns will be guided through personal leadership exploration and growth in a small group environment.

  • Participation in this program will strengthen an individual's resume as they pursue vocational ministry.

  • The internship may fulfill educational requirements and academic credits.

If you have any questions about the internship program or would like to connect with somebody as you begin the process, please contact Pastor Tim Gardner.

FAQ

+ What can I expect my week to look like as an intern?

Each ministry department has a unique rhythm. Your weekly routine will vary depending on the ministry season and needs of the specific department. On average, each Faith Church intern is asked to:

  • Commit to up to 20 hours per week.
  • Spend 25% of your time for personal and leadership development.
  • Spend 25% of your time working toward a ministry project with your Ministry Supervisor.
  • Spend 50% of your time in the day-to-day activities of your ministry area (including meetings with your ministry team, exposure to various ministries around Faith Church, hands-on ministry with the Faith Church community, etc.).

+ What are the minimum requirements for applying to the program?

An individual must have graduated high school at the time of the internship. Although being a regular attender at Faith Church is not a requirement, we do ask that interns demonstrate a lifestyle aligned with the vision, values and core beliefs of Faith Church. All interns must be cleared through background clearances according to the state of Pennsylvania upon acceptance into the program.

+ Do you offer programs for those who are no longer students, but want to gain practical ministry experience?

If you feel called to transition from the marketplace to ministry, or if you have recently graduated with a master’s-level degree, you may be eligible to participate in a different internship program at Faith Church. These customized experiences are available to those who have demonstrated an aptitude for leadership and possess transferable leadership or pastoral skills.

+ What’s the typical length of an internship?

A summer internship is 8 weeks (mid-June through mid-August). Fall or spring semester internships range between 14 and 16 weeks. Specific ministries may offer internships that last up to 12 months.

+ Can I extend my internship into the next season?

Depending on your educational institution’s recommendations for an internship, you may be considered to continue your internship into the next season. However, being involved in our Internship Program does not guarantee employment at the conclusion of your internship.

+ Are both part-time and full-time internships available?

Currently, we are only offering part-time internships (up to 20 hours per week).

+ Will I receive payment or benefits?

No. While internships are unpaid and benefits aren’t offered to interns, you will gain valuable firsthand experience, and you may ask your supervisor to write you a letter of recommendation upon completion of your internship season.

+ Are housing and transportation offered?

No. Participants are responsible for providing their own transportation and finding their own lodging.

+ Can I earn college credit?

Since the requirements at each school are unique, you are responsible for ensuring that the internship meets the needs of your college’s program. We will work with your institution to determine the viability of our program in meeting the requirements of your degree prior to your acceptance.

+ Can I work while participating in the internship?

Yes, interns may work outside of the church as long as it doesn’t interfere the work hours agreed upon with your Ministry Supervisor.
